Choosing the right major at college to follow throughout the college years requires
thorough consideration. The decision ought to depend on their family’s tradition, how much
they can afford for those years, what work market trend is and their own interests. Professor
Mark Edmundson comes up with his own advice to the question in the article “Who Are You
and What Are You Doing Here?”, published on August 22

. The article targets on the people who are clearly stated in text: “the incoming
class”, or in other words, freshman students experiencing their first days in college. The aim
of Mark Edmundson’s message in the article is to persuade those students that college is not
the place for grades and cheating. He wants all of the students to understand that the
approaching on studying in college should be to fulfill your shortcomings, to figure out your
potential and pursuit your interests. You do not need to understand clearly all of professions
in lectures but the more important thing to obtain are values and lessons from those ones.
In the beginning, Edmundson has claimed that in order to achieve a good college
education, students have to “fight against the institution”. In the article, there are several
