Sarah Snyder Pam Poquette Beginning Drawing Joyce Kozloff artist lecture at the Boor sculpture studio 4/3/18 Joyce is an American artist who’s politically engaged work has been based on cartography since the early 1990s. My favorite piece she did was “Bodies of Water” I am a pre-med student and was fascinated in the way she used the human anatomy and maps to make a piece of art. She used maps in all of her artwork but this one was just very interesting to look at. It’s a cartographic art style. The different body parts really stuck out to me the most. She got the idea in a doctor’s office. I just thought it was very clever hence the name “bodies of water.” I feel like her meaning was to combine the human anatomy and a map of our world to make art work to show how beautiful it really is. In another piece of hers she used work from her childhood. As a child she was still very into using maps in her artwork so it was very cool to see it all come together. Overall it was nothing I’ve ever been to before and was very interesting.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
