September 25, 2007 MC 201: Quizzes Returned and The Westminster Model Subject The Federalist Papers Quiz o Problems Didn’t Answer the Question Said everything we knew about the Papers but didn’t answer the question Don’t just say what you know Show that you can take what you know and apply it in an analytical way that relates to the question Answer precisely – take what you know and boil it down into a concise answer If all of your prepared answers look the same, then you haven’t gotten enough to the point o Tell the Function Each branch has a specific function Legislature: pass legislation, to do which they have to deliberate Executive: maintain stability through energy Judiciary: protect the people State these precisely in the very beginning o The BS is done Don’t tell everything you know – only that which fulfils and answer to the question Teach it back as though you’re teaching it to someone who has never learned it before Don’t just indicate that you know the material – show it! Make it your own
