Legal Formative task- The budget The budget is the most important bill that is passed in parliament. It is a monetary bill that outlines what the government is spending tax payer money on. This importance mean the bill is always debated heavily in Australia and it can be the reason governments either stay for a second term or get voted out. The budget has been introduced at 7.30pm in the past by the speaker. Included in this first speech is the recommendation by the Governor-General to use this budget. This happens because it is constitutional law for the governor general to approve the budget being introduced. This then leads on to the first reading where the Clerk simply reads out the title of the bill and in the case of the budget ‘A Bill for an Act to appropriate money out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund for the ordinary annual services of the Government, and for related purposes’ is read out.
