What type of political system do we have? What are its features? a. Constitutional republic i. Rule of law over rule of people ii. Indirect rule of the people via representatives 3. What kind of political economic system do we have? a. Democratic republic: how we select our representatives is roughly democratic b. Came from the demos Kratia “the mob” rules c. Citizen equality 1 person-1 vote d. Competitive elections with 2 or more political parties e. Are there certain political rights? f. Federal: power is dispersed throughout regional and state government g. Economy: i. State run ii. Mix between the state and market iii. Market (free market), do not function well by themselves 4. What is “rights talk” and how does it impact our political culture?
