Copyright and Wrong The editor of the Weekly Daily regularly interviews prospective reporters. In addition to routine questions, he also quizzes them about copyright situations. He needs to make sure his reporters know the law and will not get the Weekly Daily into legal problems. Your job is to identify the sentences that you think are true, Color or shade them lightly. If a sentence is not true, change the part that is incorrect to make the sentence true. 1. Copyright laws were first established in 1987. * 1787* 2. A book by Charlie A. Brown was copyrighted in 1979. Mr. Brown died unexpectedly the next year, so the copyright is no longer in effect. *Lasts 70 years after death.* 3. The symbol for copyright is ©, but you could use the word “Copyright” instead. 4 . One benefit of the Fair Use doctrine is to help students and teachers with educational projects. 5. “Rapper XYZ’s new song would be perfect in my project about outer space. Plus, it’s only 2 minutes long, so I can use all of it!” *Able to use up to 3 minutes or 10%
