I. Purpose and Objectives The purpose of this lab is to distinguish what a vector is. This lab will show how to find resultant vectors using three different methods: graphical, analytical and experimental. This lab will show how to add a set of vectors graphically to find the resultant, add a set of vectors analytically to find the resultant, and appreciate the difference in convenience between using graphical and using analytical methods of vector addition. II. Equipment Force table with pulleys Four weight hangers Set of slotted weights (masses), including three of 50g and three of 100g String Protractor Ruler Level 3 sheets of Cartesian graph paper III. Safety Use precautions when working with the objects Be sure that the instruments remain on the table Do not play with the different masses Use precaution when manipulating the Force Table Do not swing the hangers Do not execute any manipulation next to an individual (masses can fall off) IV.
