Are We Alone? From reading the fascinating points made by Adley Phu regarding the Fermi Paradox, I decided to do some research regarding the different theories and plausible resolutions to this paradox. Many have written about the apparent lack of extraterrestrial life in the galaxy, fromSETI Scientists to curious individuals on social media forums such as reddit and YouTube. A lot of the theories I came across were very well researched and interesting to read, however, what I found especially compelling was how most of them agreed upon the existence of extraterrestrial life, however, where their opinions differed was rooted in one question.“Why haven’t we been contacted?”After conducting my own brief research and reading previous posts which mentioned the Drake Equation and the extreme enormity of the universe, I came across a theory known as the ‘Zoo Hypothesis’, which, in my opinion, is both a fascinating and frightening answer to this question. This hypothesis assumes the existence of a large number of alien cultures, however, it also believes that these extraterrestrial life forms respect the natural development of other planets. In this scenario, alien life does exist, however, they refrain from contacting us because of our relatively primitive state, as they believe that this premature contact could potentially reduce the diversity of paths both the human race, and by extension, the universe
