Relationship between U.S and Cuba in the 1960’s The relations between the U.S and Cuba developed into arguments, political grandstanding, and crisis.Castro wanted to end the economic domination the U.S had over Cuba. Fidel Castro passed laws limiting landholdings and outlawing foreign ownership of the property. The US invaded Cuba in 1961, attempting to overthrow Castro and his government. After the Cuban Missile Crisis, there were attempts to assassinate Castro. The united states then cut imports of Cuban sugar. Current Relationship: Former President Barack Obama choose to close trade barriers and continue travel occurring between U.S and Cuba. Traveling limitations are set but has been lifted for those with family still in Cuba. The United states is Cuba's main supplier of food, sales reached over 710 million dollars.
