Types of machines Tablets light and portable touch interface good for “light work” but not the best performance. used mostly for small work Laptops/notebooks compared to tablets ; larger display area physical keyboard. CD/DVD and may include touch. Compared to desktops ; portability performance better than tablets but less than desktops. Specialized/variant laptops - Ultrabooks thinner and lighter (portability) - Costs almost higher than laptop (manufacturing) Netbooks - Cheaper and more portable form of laptop - Less common after release of tablets. - Common laptops features not included. (CD drive) Desktop Computers - Lots of separate things (monitor, computer) - Allow “mix and match” NOT PORTABLE. - More space required. - Greater expandiability - Reduced cost compared to laptop ; parts are cheaper. All in one computers - Unique category. (technically includes tablets and laptops) - Everything is included together (monitor,computer,memory) - Compared to desktop fit in smaller space more portable than the desktop not “expandable” - Middle of desktops and laptops in portability, hardware, and capabilities.
