GLOBAL BUSINESS PLAN-PART I 2 Introduction This paper entails an in-depth analysis of opportunities that are available in Vietnam for footwear manufacturer Sketchers. Vietnam as a country has seen tremendous growth in the economy attracting interests from Multinational Corporations, buoyed by opportunities created by globalization. Headquartered in California, Sketcher needs to expand into new frontiers and leverage cheap production regions to its ever-growing global brand. To achieve this, an analysis of Vietnam’s political factors, infrastructure, economic variables, government variables, cultural variables, and innovation would be key. Additionally, global and local variables are also assessed. This assessment aims to highlight how viable Vietnam is for Sketcher’s business. Advantages for both entities are discussed as well potential drawbacks. Five global and local trends for Vietnam The five variables selected for this analysis include economic variables, political factors, governmental variables, infrastructure and global and local variables and absolute advantage and how they affect potential trade between the two countries that is the United States and Vietnam, on apparel manufacturer Nike. Economic variables Vietnam has grown economically and had brighter economic outlook compared to its peer countries in Asia. The country joined world organization in 2006, and this spurred economic growth is positioning the country as one of the emerging frontiers for global entities. Additionally, Vietnam is also part of other trade organization like the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), and the ASEAN free trade area (AFTA), Asia-pacific economic cooperation, which indicate the country political commitment to growth.
