This preview shows 1 out of 2 pages.

Java Threads Enable better multiprogramming and better cpu utilization. They are either running, suspended, ready to run or terminated .They are similar to the operating systems process multitasking. They are ike different parts of a process running concurrently. It has less overhead than the process based multitasking Rules of threading A thread can voluntarily relinquish control. This is done by explicitly yielding, sleeping, or blocking on pending I/O. In this scenario, all other threads are examined, and the highest-priority thread that is ready to run is given the CPU. A running thread can be preempted by a higher priority thread then it resumes running after the higher priority thread is terminated ( preemptive multitasking . ) If threads have the same level of priority, they are put in a round robin scheduling algorithm where they are given time quantums in windows os but in others they have to yield their cpu

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
