In The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini, Amir lives most of his life never knowing the truth that Hassan was actually his brother. This is significant for many reasons, but it's particularly ironic because although Baba believed that theft was the root sin that all other sins were based upon, he essentially stole the truth from Amir and Hassan. Why is truth so important One of the main themes in the book The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini is about the permanent damage from the results of keeping secrets. Eventually, all of the secrets come out in the open, but those secrets that stay hidden for the longest time are the most damaging ones. The main secret in the book, is the secret that Hassan was Amir’s brother. This secret destroyed Amir’s life and because of this secret he lived with guilt for decades. Truthfulness is the greatest and most important of all human virtues. Truthfulness means to always speak the truth habitually, no matter how bad the circumstances. A truthful person will never tell a lie, he is reliable. Truthfulness is essential in building character. A person who has a bad character will not be loved by anybody. times telling the truth is hurtful to others. For example, if Tommy finds out that Bob is cheating on Juliet. Tommy being a truthful person will tell Juliet even though if it will destroy the friendship between Tommy and Bob. A truthful man has strength of mind. He is not afraid of any body. He is never ready to suffer by speaking the truth. So his mind is free from the anxiety that constantly troubles a liar. A truthful person is able to live as peaceful life knowing that the truth has been spoken. In the book, Baba states, “There is only one sine. And that is theft… when you tell a lie, you seal somones right to the truth.” A liar is hated by everyone. Nobody will believe a liar. A liar conceals the
