I chose to be a General Human Environmental Sciences Major because I didn’t want to just be restricted to one thing. General HES allows me to study and take classes in all areas of the department. From Food and Nutrition, to Sports Management, to Restaurant Hospitality Management, I get to learn about a variety of subjects that would be beneficial to me working in the hospitality field. I was motivated to pursue this degree during my freshman year. In high school I had been working with kids and was a preschool teacher/ nanny. When I entered freshman year of college, I didn’t know what I wanted to study. All I knew, was that I was good at working with kids and that was one of the things I was best at.
