LAB #1: B UILD A SIMPLE ETHERNET NETWORK By the end of this lab you should be able to: Connect PCs to a switch Configure a small Ethernet Network Manually configure PCs IP address You will need the following items for this LAB: 2 x PCs we can configure IP address -In back lab or personal PCs 1 x Network Switch (3560, 3750, 3850, etc.) Instructions: Connect PCs to the switch with straight-through data cable. Confirm type of cable with your instructor Task 1: Log-on On PC To begin the lab exercise, you will first Step 1 Log on to PC 1/PC 2 Step 2 Log on with the appropriate credentials to PC 1and PC 2 . Task 2: Configure the PC Ethernet Adapter To begin the exercise, PC 1/PC 2 has to be physically connected to the switch . You will need to configure the Ethernet adapter on the PC 1 and PC 2 . Using the Windows operating system, you have to configure the IP protocol parameters associated with the Ethernet adapter. Step 3 From the Windows screen of the PC 1/ PC 2 , click Start and make the following choices: Control Panel Click Network and Internet Connections Click Network Connections Right click Local Area Connection icon Step 4 From the Local Area Connection window, click the Properties button. Step 5 From the Local Area Connection Properties scroll down to highlight the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the Properties button. Step 6 From the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window, click the Use the following IP address button.
