Week 1 Assignment 1 of 2 (55 Points) Overview The purpose of the Week 1 Assignment 1 is to become familiar with the APA and IRB guidelines and understand the requirements of writing a professional action research report. During this week’s activities, you will: 1. Attend or view the recording of the weekly web conference. 2. Post to the Week 1 Discussion Board. 3. Submit Campus Mentor Information to Tk20 (Fill out the artifact and Save, it does not have to be attached to anything.) 4. Complete the Review of the Literature Synthesis Matrix 5. Work toward completion of final draft of interim Action Research Report – Title Page, Section One, Two, Three and Reference Section (due Week 2). 6. Work toward completion of interim Action Research Report – Title Page, Sections One, Two, Three and the Reference Section (due Week 4). 7. Work toward completion of the Practicum Log (due Week 5). 8. Schedule the 2 nd Field Supervisor Observation (due by the end of the course). 9. Review the syllabus and plan accordingly to complete all assignments by the due dates! Learning Outcomes Candidates will: Understand the importance of ethics, integrity, and fairness in leading the research project and all practicum activities. Understand ways to properly format and cite references using APA 6 th edition guidelines. Understand library retrieval methods to obtain and filter information for a relevant research context. Become knowledgeable of accepted protocol for writing a concise research question(s) or problem statement. Understand the process of synthesizing and writing literature results. Understand the requirements for writing a professional Action Research Report. Understand the need to document internship activities in a format that show dates, amounts of time, total number of hours, descriptions of activities, and reflections. Performance Outcomes Candidates will be able to: Properly format and cite references using APA (6 th edition) guidelines. Use library retrieval methods to obtain and filter information for a relevant research context. Complete the Review of the Literature Synthesis Matrix; identify the title and abbreviated title, list the terms to be defined, problem statement, identify at least three themes to be used in the body of the Review of the Literature section of your Action Research Report and submit at least twelve references (six must be peer-reviewed articles).
