Researching Current Economic Events in the News Vocabulary: Growth Domestic Product is the best way to measure a country's economy. GDP is the total value of everything produced by all the people and companies in the country. Inflation is the rate at which the general level of prices for goods and services is rising and, consequently, the purchasing power of currency is falling. Little inflation keeps the economy a safe distance from deflation which is when prices fall, and growth is at a halt. Unemployment- the state of being unemployed: involuntary idleness of workers; also: the rate of such unemployment. Works Cited Cohen, Patricia. "The Economic Growth That Experts Can’t Count." The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
