Name (please PRINT) Kevin Czajka Individual take-home assignment: Queuing analysis Due time/date: 1/30/2018 (class). Bring in a hard copy on the due date. The A machine shop has a tool crib to store tools required by the mechanics. 2 clerks run the tool crib. The clerks hand out the tools as the mechanics arrive and request them. The tools then are returned to the clerks when they are no longer needed. There have been complaints that the mechanics have had to waste too much time waiting to be served at the tool crib, suggesting that more clerks may be needed. On the other hand, the company is faced with pressure to reduce overhead cost in the plant, implying fewer clerks should be used. After collecting data, the mean arrival rate is 120 customers per hour and the mean service rate per server is 80 customers per hour. The total cost to the company of each tool crib clerk is $20 per hour. While a mechanic is busy, the value to the company output averages about $48 per hour.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
