Looking at enterprises in terms of business processes A business process is a group of related activities an organization performs to provide goods and services to customers. Regardless of the type of good or service an organization provides, each organization has three broad business processes: 1. Acquisition/Payment Processes - acquiring, maintaining, and paying for resources needed by the organization (e.g. human resources, financing, property, plant, equipment, materials and supplies) to provide goods and services. (also called the procurement/purchasing process). 2. Financing Process Acquiring money from outside sources to be able to use that money for paying employees and acquiring goods. 3. Sales/Collection Process - delivering goods and services to customers and collecting payment. (Also called the revenue process). When an enterprise manufactures the good that they are selling they will also have a: 4. Conversion Process - The process of converting raw materials, components, or parts into finished goods that meet a customer's expectations or specifications. (Also called the manufacturing process) Most enterprises have enough employees to have a separate Human Resources process. When no human resource process is present, the acquisition of human resources are handled by the acquisition/payment process. 5. Human Resources: all the practices , systems and procedures implemented to attract, acquire, develop and manage human resources to achieve the goals of an organization. 2. Creating value: Many of the critical steps of building an information systems, have little to do with programming a computer. The process starts with identifying the need for a business solution and getting a better understanding of the environment you plan to support and/or improve. The first level of detail you should consider, should be the one with the least detail, you should keep your perspective and avoid getting bogged down by the detail.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
