Gracie Perry Informative Speech Introduction I. Start with an attention-grabber: "Confidence as a result of empowerment. The philosophy of empowerment does not have meaning without the unconditional hope and faith in the human spirit." This is Fair Cloths mission statement. This company believes in more than just charity works, they believe in empowering young women, so that they can be the best version of themselves. II. Listener relevance: There are about 170 million children worldwide who are not enrolled in school, while 70% of them are females. Faircloth believes that equal access to education for girls, is the key to ending world poverty. Is this not an issue we want to help solve? III. Speaker Credibility: If you are like me, you have no idea who Phoebe Dahl is, until now. I chose this topic because I wanted a challenge to learn about something new. IV. Today, I am going to be talking about Phoebe Dahl, the Faircloth and Supply brand and the importance of empowerment in women. Transition: Body Main point one: Even from a young age Phoebe knew that she had a passion for clothes and fashion. A. As a child she learned how to sew at her grandmother's antique-fabric store in California, where she made simple things like hats, scarves and accessories. She then went to school at San Francisco's Fashion Institute of Design along with the London College of fashion. B. As she was assisting a designer in Amsterdam, they went on many trips to Tokyo and India, and those trips rerouted her career. Dahl says, " I saw the most beautiful linen textile mills in Tokyo, along with a style that I'd never seen before: ripped Levi's with oversize linen dresses. It
