2 VASCULAR DISEASE Vascular disease can be any condition that affects the circulatory system. Blood travels through the body by way of veins and arteries. Arteries carry oxygenated blood to vital organs in the body. Veins carry deoxygenated blood back to the heart. Any disruption in blood flow can be serious and fatal. There are many types of vascular diseases, and they can all have similar signs and symptoms. Treatments can also range from exercise to surgery. Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) is poor venous return over a long period of time (Huether & McCance, 2017). Venous hypertension, pooling of the blood, and loss of oxygen to the tissue causes an inflammatory response leading to remodeling of the skin and eventually ulceration (Huether & McCance, 2017). Symptoms include swelling and dark, redness of the lower extremities, and pain. Due to lack of oxygen, and cell waste build up, injuries or pressure to the legs can cause necrosis or stasis ulcers. Due to the poor circulation, infection can occur

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
