Running Head: ETHICS/ SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY 1 Title: Author: Contact Email: Story: Controversy in Ads Advertising can be defined as a mass media content that aim to persuade an audience of viewers, readers, or listeners take an action on ideas, products, and services. The motive of an advertisement is to drive the audience is a specific way towards a service, product, or concept. The motive of advertising is usually to attract customers to consume the product, concept, and service being advertised. In advertising, rules of ethics apply. If not done according to the codes of ethics, advertisement can foster unethical issues and dishonesty ( Ringold, 2008 ). A lot of controversy has faced the advertisement of alcohol. Among the many ads for beer, no one that shows someone actually was drinking the beer. This makes the ads unethical. They are selling to people what they do not drink. Most companies use unclear slogans in advertising beer and fail to educate the mass on safe and moderate drinking. This brings the sense that advertisers only create a fake mirror in advertising to draw customers to their products.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
