The class on “Opium Wars” enlightened me regarding the effects of history on the current scenario of business world. The most important three takeaways, which I personally found from the class are as mentioned below. 1. Understanding History: When we see the current aggressive state of the China in terms of their business and foreign policies, it very important to analyze the cause behind their current state. Reflecting back on history, Opium Wars provide one such example. British created the demand for Opium in china to be able to establish free trade for silk and tea. China must have learned from this horrific experience and this explains the reason why they are so much aggressive in today’s world. Hence, as a leader, I understand that it is very important to know the history behind someone’s action, in order to effectively deal with them. 2. Creating demand to help Business thrive: When British wanted to trade with china for tea

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
