In American today, we cannot properly under- government, laws, and freedom without understanding how improvements in the ma conditions of life developed from earlier cultures. Many of the views that Americans hold are unique to Western civilization, such as the concept of individual rights and freedom that said, it is extremely hard to properly study and understand Western culture with thorough study of Christian cul- ture. Western culture is inseparable from Christian culture to understand either one accurately they must be studied as a unit. The moral valu Western culture have their ethical roots in the moral norms taught in Scripture. This source of values is based on the Judeo-Christian worldview and has directed Europe for se millennia. I am aware that Western culture is responsible for some tragedies, includin Crusades of the Medieval Ages, and these traumatic events should be discussed. Yet, Western culture has shared in the oppression and mistreat- ment of others, that shou overshadow the worthy and restorative qualities that the West has contributed to man The belief that Western civilization was generally created by what some would call “dead men” alters nothing, for we cannot rewrite history. The Greeks invented democ speculative philosophy, and formal logic, and Renaissance innovators invented and deve the experimental scientific method. The list of Western inventions is virtually endless incandes- cent light bulb, telephone, automobile, airplane, computer, internet, space and even nuclear fusion. 1 One of the chief shortcomings of modern education has been its failure to find an ade system for the study of Western culture. Often, history courses focus merely on the fact educators teach what they know about the civilizations of ancient Greece and Rome, and else. Many students are overwhelmed and bemused with the massive amounts of knowledge set before them. The major- ity of students do not have the single-mindedne comprehend the importance of all this knowledge, let alone connect its significance to own present circum- stance. These students are often focused on using their education
