Alana Cahoon Daphnia Acute Toxicity Lab Introduction: The objective of the toxicity test was to measure the immobilization of the Daphnia magna as they were put into different amounts of household cleaning products. Daphnia magna is a small freshwater arthropod. The household product that was used in this experiment was Daily Shower. Daily Shower is used to clean walls, showers and floors. The purpose of this experiment is to find the toxic dosage that kills 50 percent of the Daphnia . Hypothesis: If we use 10 mL of Daily Shower, then 50% of our Daphnia magna will be immobilize. Materials and Methods: In this experiment, we used a graduated cylinder to fill four individual cups with Daphnia water. The first cup was labeled control, the second cup was labeled five percent, the third cup was labeled ten percent and the last one was labeled twenty percent. The control cup was incorporated in the experiment to give reliable baseline data to compare their results with. After all the cups were filled with the Daphnia water we then
