o process is to get optimum work performance that will help realize the company's mission and goals. o project the organization's vision and strategy and staff based on that possibility Understanding current employee needs : Job analysis o Determining the basic elements of a job by observation and analysis Job description o Summarizes what the holder of the job does and how and why he or she does it Job specification o Describes the minimum qualifications a person must have to perform a job successfully All 3 of These can help you avoid hiring and firing people who are over qualified or underqualified Predicting future employee needs : Predicting future employee needs means you have to become knowledgeable about the staffing the organization might need and the likely sources for that staffing o Understand organizations vison and strategic plan Human Resource inventory o Report listing your organization’s employees by name, education, training, languages, and other important information Recruitment : Process of locating and attracting qualified applicants for jobs open in the organization Internal Recruiting o Means making people already employed by the organization aware of job openings o Job posting - placing information about job vacancies and qualifications on bulletin boards, in newsletters, and on the organizations intranet (internal recruiting) o Advantages of internal recruiting : 2

Employees tend to be inspired to greater effort and loyalty. Morale is enhanced because they realize that working hard and staying put can result in more opportunities The whole process of advertising, interviewing, and so on is cheaper There are fewer risks. Internal candidates are already known and are familiar with the organization o Disadvantages of internal recruiting : Internal recruitment restricts the competition for positions and limits the pool of fresh talent and fresh viewpoints
