The Importance of Being Wilde Misha Glouchkova Wilde was a wild child Who broke all the social norms, And in his older years of living Oscar sat behind many bars, Those of which you get a drink And those of which you don’t. His preferences varied from those of his peers, And although he pretended to enjoy beautiful women, He was truly quite queer. His life turned to shambles As his open secret was no longer in his grasp, And with disdain from his enemies A two-year sentence fell straight into his lap. With a slow passing of time, His freedom was regained, Yet to him, It seemed as if he were still chained. Exiled into a land of cigarette smoke, His life was shattered, And in his time of imprisonment, He lost everything and was utterly broke.
