Professor Noh MGT 250 30 March 2017 Chapter 10 Summary Work team - a small number of people with complementary skills who hold themselves mutually accountable for pursuing a common purpose, achieving performance goals, and improving interdependent work processes. Teams increase customer satisfaction, improve product and service quality, and increase job satisfaction. Cross-training - training team members to do all or most of the jobs performed by other team members. The implementation of teams can lead to high turnovers as some employees might not like the setting. Social loafing - behaviour in which team members withhold their efforts and fail to perform their share of the work. Teams can also suffer from many of the disadvantages of group decision making, like groupthink or minority domination. Teams should be used when there is a clear, engaging reason or purpose, when the job can’t be done unless people work together, and when rewards can be provided for teamwork and team performance. Autonomy - the degree to which workers have the discretion, freedom, and independence to decide how and when to accomplish their jobs. Traditional work groups (low autonomy) - a group composed of two or more people who work together to achieve a shared goal.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
