Running head: RAMSES II AND CONSTANTINE 1 Ramses II and Constantine James Young Humanities 111 Dr. Claybon May 20, 2018
RAMSES II AND CONSTANTINE 2 Ramses II and Constantine During the time of Constantine and Ramses II, both of these great rulers had enough power that it had a significant influence on history. These rulers had an immense power their power influenced culture and religion. This essay will tell you about four of the things I found they had in common in religion, the military, writing and the economy. First, we will look at Ramses II who was well known as a great commander of the military. Egyptians had the longest time in peace during his reign because he conquered many nations and had implemented peace treaties. Ramses II is the one they mention in the bible when they tell the tale of the Exodus. He had lead campaigns to get land back that they lost to Egypt in the past. For the pharaoh to increase the stability of the kingdom, he formed treaties with his enemies after he was at war with them. Constantine with the help of Licinius is known for conquering Rome from Maxentius the Roman Emperor in 312, also took over Licinius empire of the Greek pagans which freed them from his persecutions. Both leaders were outmanned by their opponents, but in one instance Constantine prevailed, and Ramses II had to retreat because they had gotten outnumbered.
