The purpose relates to the personality development by developing a specific measure that differentiates positive and negative perfectionism in athletes giving a high or low score on positive or negative perfectionism. The hypothesis of the study was that “athletes have been found to score lower on negative perfectionism than other groups (Terry-Short et al., 1995) and so may be hypothesized to differ from a clinical group on personality traits” (Egan, 2015).
