Part III But if the schools and the relationships don’t really provide love and the so called soul and artwork exist more as an attempt to justify clone’s survival just like human rights are there to fight out injustice and unfairness. In this way the meaning of soul is not in itself in this perspective. Meaning it’s hard to say that not humans nor clones prepossess souls. Or naturally have souls as part of their life. Then the question maybe how and where to locate soul in this novel. There are three parts in the novel and they’re generally are not in the chronicle order. It feels that the Kathy’s narration is more a telling of her life than the revealing of her kind. By that I mean Never Let Me Go seems to be more a story about her relationship with others including her friends and her human teachers and also her reflection on her life and her last word for the world. Thus we know that after the trip that she described in this novel she is about to face her own death. It almost feels that she writes this memoir to consider and construct her identity.
