Counselor: Hi Molly,
Client: Hi.
Counselor: How are you?
Client: Good.
Counselor: Umm, How’s your day been going?
Client: It’s good.
Counselor: Good, good.
Counselor:So, the last few times you’ve come in we’ve talked about researching colleges and
degrees and stuff, and we set up a SMART goal for you or you setup a SMART goal, so how is
your SMART goal been coming along?
Client: Um its good, I got a visit down for SFA
Counselor: Good.
Client: So, in a few weeks and I, uh what was the other one, UNT, UFD?
Counselor: UTD, ULM.
Client: UTD, yes! UTD. I still haven't done that one. ULM, I still haven't done that one yet, but I
have looked into all of those.
Counselor: Good, so you have done some researching online, and looks like your pretty
confident.
Client: It's getting there.
Counselor: About what you are doing.
Client: Im getting there.
Counselor: Good, how do, how do you feel about going to college?
Client: Im excited, I'm ready to get away, I mean I am but I'm not. I don't want to leave my
family, but I'm ready for something new, defentilty.
Counselor: Tell me more about that?
Client: Well, I don't know, I'm at the point in my life, Im 18, and I want to get out of the house
and experience different things you know. My mom always said she was a twiler at Kilgore, and
she always said college was the best time of her life and so does my dad.
My dad played football
at Texas A&M Commerce, and they both said that, you know, college was a great experience and
a great time.
I am ready for that, I am ready for a change.
Counselor: I am noticing some excitement in your voice.
Client: Yeah
