Blair Cannon Eng 101 Project 1 The Science Literature Review Breast Cancer Treatment Literature Review Abstract The options for treatment of breast cancer have improved. We now have several options that have proved to be affective that are shown in these experiments. Botanical drugs have proved to be effective in reducing the size of tumors and also inhibiting the growth of breast cancer cell lines. Radiotherapy too focuses on reducing the size of tumors so that the surgery to remove it is much easier. Radiologic armports have been proven to be the most effective method of surgery because it leaves patients with a better quality of life with minimal risk for reoccurrence. A final method is a drug known as tamoxifen that inhibits the growth of estrogen dependent cancer. Keywords BZL101, Botanical Medicine, Radiotherapy, tamoxifen, replica exchange molecular dynamics, radiologic arm port, surgical subclavian port Introduction Breast cancer has always had a basic form of treatment known as chemotherapy. Over time there have been new techniques found to help with treatment. A few examples are radiotherapy, botanical therapy, REMD or replica exchange molecular dynamics, and a surgery known as radiologic arm port. Many concepts are understood about the treatment of breast cancer, for example, that the basic form of treatment is to inhibit further growth, however, some have yet to be explored. This paper will discuss the

treatments of breast cancer and the advances that have been made. Summary In this experiment, Rugo and others tried to prove the positive effects of botanical therapies by using a botanical drug known as BZL101. Each of the twenty one test subjects were given 350 ml per day of BZL101 for twenty eight days and noted the
