The nation, especially the parents of the crew members, stood there watching this inconceivable event in shock and silence. No one could grasp reality till later that evening when the 40thpresident of America, Ronald Reagan, addressed his nation with his “White house address to the nation” speech. For this tragic event, the 40thpresident of America, Ronald Reagan, decided to prioritize the shuttle crash and postpone the states of union address pre-scheduled that evening. (Rensberger, 1986) (Fields, 1989).The space shuttle ‘challenger’ in the NASA shuttle orbiter mission finally took off after being delayed for several days due to poor weather conditions and technical problems. But, a mere 73 seconds later broke apart after take-off from Cape Canaveral, Florida. This explosion was caused by an external tank explosion that was caused by a loose rocket booster, which ruptured the tank. This resulted in the death of it seven crew members, five NASA astronauts andtwo payload specialist- Francis Scobee, Michael Smith, Ronald McNair, Ellison Onizuka, Gregory Jarvis, and Christa McAuliffe (Rothman,2015).
