Leviticus chapter 22 continues the same theme as chapter 21, in which the qualifications of a priest is delineated. Therefore I will merely summarize it. In Verses 1-9 we are taught the truth again that being ceremonially clean is absolutely essential if a son of Aaron is to serve as a priest. Then in Verses 10-16 a restriction is placed upon strangers and foreigners. No one other than the children of Aaron, and especially no non-Israelite, could hold the priesthood. This, of course, is a picture for us that God is not interested in having those who are outside the family of God doing spiritual work for him. A non-Christian cannot do the work of God. No one who is not born again into the family of God can ever accomplish anything for God. It may appear that he is, in many ways, but, in the sight of God and at the judgment seat of Christ (Romans 14:14:10, 2 Corinthians 5:10), it will be revealed as nothing but wood, hay, and stubble instead of gold, silver, and precious jewels (1 Corinthians 3:12).
