SUBJECT MATTER A. Topic: Meiosis B. Reference: Biology 9 th Edition by Raven (Page 208-218) C. Science concepts Meiosis is a type of cell division that reduces the number of chromosomes in the parent cell by half and produces four gamete cells. This process is required to produce egg and sperm cells for sexual reproduction. Homologous is pairing at meiosis and having the same structural features and pattern of genes. Diploid means containing two complete sets of chromosomes, one from each parent. Haploid having a single set of unpaired chromosomes. Tetrad is a group of four chromatids formed from each of a pair of homologous chromosomes that split longitudinally during the prophase of
