The new product development process consist of six stages idea generation, screening, concept development and testing, business analysis, market testing, and commercialization. Looking at baby products produced at Tiny Love, where the company creates developmental toys for babies, the process can be reviewed. In the idea generation stage is developed from watching babies, identifying a baby’s perceptive of the world, baby’s response to their environment, activities that stimulate babies, market needs and trends, and even parent focus groups (Tiny Love, n.d.). The next step is screening where the ideas are evaluated and the company determines which idea fits with the company’s strategy of developing toys that help with a baby’s development needs, and which idea the company has the appropriate resources for. The company also will determine which product will have the greatest market potential where babies and parents are satisfied with the product.
