2MEMORANDUM To: John SmithFrom: NAME Subject: Reducing Expatriate Turnover Date: April 27, 2016 The purpose of this memorandum is to analyze an international business strategy to identify the requirements needed by human resources. Suggestions on how to improve productivity and contribute to the firm’s competitiveness will be formulated. A proposed staffing alternative will be determined for foreign operations and an explanation of why expatriates should be used instead of local or third-country nationals. Two strategies to lower high expatriate turnover would to pre-plan an expatriate’s assignment and maintain ongoing communication and mentoring. According to Geodesy in “Understanding and Avoiding the Barriers to International Mobility”, it was noted that twenty-five percent of repatriates resign from the company within twelve months of returning from an overseas assignment and only forty-nine percent of companies have repatriation programs.
