And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. Romans 8:28-30 Paraphrase: And for those of us who love God, we are most certainly persuaded that all the sufferings of the present time tend to the advancement of our own good. Neither are these sufferings to be looked upon as mere accident only, nor as a sign of God's displeasure, but as a part of God's special design for all those who love him. For he has determined that all those who love him should, after the manner of his Son, make their way unto glory through much suffering, and that in doing so, be like younger brothers attaining to glory in the same manner as Christ their elder brother did before them. And those that he has predetermined to a conformity to Christ in suffering, he has accordingly called to bear the afflictions of the cross; and these whom he has called to suffer, them he has also vindicated and supported in the midst of them; and these he either has or most certainly will reward with eternal glory. These words, which undoubtedly stand among the greatest promises in the word of God, were written by the Apostle to assist the believers at Rome who were undergoing tremendous suffering and persecution on account of their faith. That this is the context of these verses is shown from the latter half of the whole chapter, but especially from the seventeenth and eighteenth verses: "And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." Romans 8:17-18 With the scope of the chapter in mind, it is clear that when the Apostle says that "all things" work together for the good of those who love God, he speaks, not of our sins as some people vainly think, but with a particular regard to all our afflictions: the "sufferings of this present time" (Romans 8:18) as the Apostle calls them. Those who think otherwise stand condemned by these places by the word of God, as well as in a thousand other places, for it is said: "Thou hast fallen by thine iniquity." Hosea 14:1 "But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die. When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die." Ezekiel 18:24, 26

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
