Binita Adhikari NATO stands for North Atlantic Treaty organization. NATO is a military alliance of Western powers. The reason for Warsaw Pact set up was because the soviets claimed that it was to protectits member nation, but it was actually being to give their control of the members nations’ armies. The ones that were part of it was communist European nations such as USSR, Bulgarian, Czechoslovakia and Poland and also China. NATO is made up of ambassador from 15 countries. The pact was use more as a means to keep the Soviet allies under a watchful eye than to actually make and enforce decisions. Both NATO and Pact, created UN and were both created to defend against outside powers. The differences were that Warsaw Pact was name of military alliance between the Soviet Union and Eastern European nations. One significance outcome of the Korean War was that it gave US reason to raise its military expenditure four-fold.
