Sites I used Foxes are also known as vulpines scientifically. Vulpines is a common name used to refer to the 27 species of small to medium sized omnivorous mammals that belong to the Canidae family. Female foxes are called vixen, and male foxes are called tod or dog. The young are called kits, cubs, or pups. A group of foxes is called a skulk. The most common and well known type of fox is a Red Fox. The fur is more of a rusty orange but artistic depictions often darken the colour to a deeper reddish colour. Red Foxes live in many diverse habitats such as forests, grasslands, mountains, and deserts. They adapt well to human environments such as farms, suburban areas, and large communities. Red foxes have a legendary reputation for intelligence and cunning. Red foxes are solitary hunters. They feed on rodents, rabbits, birds, and other small animal. Their diet can also be as flexible as their home habitat. They will eat fruit and vegetables, fish, frogs, and even worms. The foxes
