In this chapter we are given an account of the death of Moses and the rise of Joshua as the new leader of Israel. Moses has been a faithful servant of the Lord but before he died, God allowed him to climb Mount Nebo in the mountain range of Pisgah and to scan the land of promise. Now imagine doing that at age 120! Even at the end of Moses life, he was still strong and able to climb a mountain. But his time has come and Moses would die alone with God on the top of Nebo. Although there was a time when Moses disagreed with God and pleaded with him to allow him to enter the Promised Land, that was no longer the case. He was satisfied with God's will for his life and here at the end of his life, God would gracious allow him to see the boundaries of the land of promise. Moses knew by faith that God will be true to his promise... and he saw the promise of God in the far horizon. Moses was a faithful servant of the Lord and he finished his life strong in faith.
