Anthony Evans Com 2020 6/13/2018 1960’s & 1970’s American Cinema The decline of American success in film can be seen with the bloated era of the 1960’s. Studio films were flopping and were not a commercial success like they used to be. After the bloated era, American cinema was looking for a change to American film that would spice things up. Those changes would come with Hollywood doing away with the high budget studio films, films were shot on location similar to the French New wave. Along with the change in scenery was a change in the directors. The Directors of films during the 1970’s came from all over, there were foreign directors, actors, and people from outside of film that came to direct some of the most successful films. Along with these changes was the implementation of the MPAA it allowed for film to discuss issues of society and politics and were less restricted to what they could include in films. There was a lot more allowed in films in relation to violence, drugs, and sex. This change of the rating system and what was allowed in film created a positive reaction with the audience.
