To:TJFrom:Laurel CarrySection: 901Date: June 13, 2018Re:Lab 6: GearsPurpose:The purpose of this lab is to gain understanding the working of gears through simple experiments and to identify their different parameters.Procedure:We used the Boston Gear Catalog and the Browning Catalog to identify gear specifications. Using the found dimensions, we calculated the gear ratios, horsepower, and maximum torque. In exercise two, we were given a number of specifications and had to identify the gear.Results:The results are enclosed in the attached lab handouts.Conclusions/Results:I learned to calculate horsepower, maximum torque, and gear ratios given the part numbers of the driving and driven gears.
