January 31, 2008 PLS Soviet Union and U.S.: U.S. says Soviet Union doesn’t believe in democracy. They don’t believe in freedom of religion. 1946 Iran turkey Greece 1948 G.S. coup Berlin Blockade 1949 China is communist 1950 Korea communist Bretton Woods Institutions (BWI)- world bank, international monetary fund, general agreements on world trade. Don’t during the war to create arcitectur of institutions for the peace. Policy: 1946 Churchill Kennan- long tel 1947 British Note Truman Marshall National Security Act 1949 Nato 1950 NSC 68 Roskin Paradigms- Convnetional wisdoms. We know what the world is all about. 20 years later we know something different that the world is all about. We go back and forth with what we think the world is about. This is a stuggle between interventionists and noninterventionists. Interventionist- intervene in Europe and the rest of the world Non interv- Stay on the side of the ocean.
