I do not agree with the sentencing of Romeo Lucero in this dog case for two reasons. The first being not only that he caused the death of an animal that he owned & the second reason being the manner in which he caused the dog he owned to die. Binding her muzzle with rubber bands causing her to suffocate? That’s an agonizing way to die. Not only is it physical torture, its mental torture also. Not to mention her owner is the person who did this to her. He could’ve punished her in other ways & he could’ve been proactive in taking measures to ensure that she couldn’t get to things to chew them up. It is in a dog’s nature to chew things up, and as her owner he could’ve punished her in a billion other ways without causing any real harm to her. A person’s upbringing has nothing to do with their personal ethics. If he had the sense to avoid the trouble his family members did, then he had the cognitive ability to
