To lay a proper foundation we will define what groups and teams are and are notTeams—groups of individuals working toward specific goals or outcomes. The common elements in the definition of a team are: Two or more peoplewith work roles that require them to be interdependentwho operate within a larger social system (the organization)performing tasks relevant to the organization’s missionwith consequences that affect others inside and outside the organizationwho have membership that is identifiable to those who are on the team and to those who are not on the team.
