EDUCATION 2 Education Education refers to a systematic process of gaining knowledge and skills achieved through study and instructions. Education is a key ingredient necessary for any country to achieve the cultural required propelling it towards a sustainable future underpinned by cooperation and equality. There is greater need therefore for people within the society to educate themselves as they look to explore and experiment their ways into a possible future. Education provides the initial step towards financial and social development and freedom by opening opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship, and networks needed to develop individuals and communities. The paper seeks to discuss the impact of education on people both at the individual and society levels. Benefits of Education An educated person is regarded as a great asset to the community. Education is directly linked to easy access to employment opportunities with employers looking for talented and skilled people to develop their brands. The attainment of a college degree in a particular field of education is a necessary qualification to secure a well-paying job. A study by Abel and Deitz (2014) finds that an investment in a college degree is still a valid plan to economic and financial freedom. The study also established that despite the decrease in the minimum wage and increasing college fees, the achievement of degree certificate offers a fifteen percent return on premium within the first decade (Abel & Deitz, 2014). The study further provides a valid reason for college students to invest time, money, and effort in their academic growth with employment opportunities available for skilled and qualified personnel. A person who decides to invest in education will continue to harness long-term benefits from employment or entrepreneurship. In learning institutions, especially at the college and
