ALLIANCE SUPERMARKET AND POS 2Study this situation and formulate new and innovative uses of the information from the POS system. Ideally, these ideas should help Alliance better serve its customers by ensuring that adequate quantities of each item are available, that costs are kept low, and that customers are made aware of new products that may interest them.The Point-of-Sale (POS) system used by the Alliance Supermarkets helps them to tracking inventory in their organization at checkout (Vonderembse & White, 2013, chapter 10). This system has a lot of different elements that the supermarket is not utilizing right now. The elements included in the POS system are accounting, sales management, record keeping, labor recording, price adjustment, inventory analysis, staff management, customer management, and marketing initiates, (Ko, Kohei, & Takashi, 2017, p 3). Taking these elements in to consideration,I think if the alliance supermarket would upgrade their hardware and software to use all these elements they might be able to track their “inventory, layaways, employee commissions, gift registry, customer database, and purchase orders” (Ko, Kohei, & Takashi, 2017, p 3).It would enable them to keep up their inventory levels to guarantee consumer loyalty andsatisfaction. The Point-of-Sale (POS) system could be used to create a mailing records for consumers that would enable alliance supermarket to mail out coupons, deals, and promotions for the consumers individual needs based off their purchases.
