The model for change that I have chosen to describe is the Plan Do Study Act (PDSA). Inmy current role I use this model often in changes that are implemented in our facility. There are four steps in the PDSA change model. The first task is to plan by deciding what your goal is. As a facilitator of a team making change I must help the team to understand what the problem that they want to change is and how to decide what the team wants to achieve. The next task that the team must complete is to put the plan into action by implementing it. It is a good idea to do this in a focus area. For example a change project I worked on recently our team put into place in the Emergency Department for trial. Study is the next to be completed. In this phase the team aggregates and analyzes the data. After analyzing the data the team must then decide if the change should be put into action. Acting is the final phase. The PDSA cycle is used by teams to improve the quality of patient care (Donnnely & Kirk, 2015).
